The Next Tuesday Podcast

May 30, 2017

This week Care and Suz 'DIG' into herbalism with Laura Baum of Laura's Botanicals and co-founder of the Richmond Herbalism Guild. While Care + Suz can barely keep their plants alive and are blissfully unaware of the world of herbalism, Laura patiently and passionately articulates her craft as a certified herbalist, the learnings, knowledge and interactive model she uses with her mentees of Laura's Botanicals, and she chats about the multi-generational community growing via the Richmond Herbalism Guild.

We learn about Ayurveda - an ancient system of medicine, the benefits of Rose, hear about flower essences,  concoctions, elixirs, and a poltus (?), and it's discussed why it's important to be in relationship with our plants. On this journey, we consider the resurgence of holistic health and the "magic of grandma" - as we look back at the healing modalities of our ancestors compared to the medical models of today. Herbs can increase the quality of life - even if just our mental outlooks and PEOPLE ARE INTERESTED. We hear how Laura and Allie's audience at the Richmond Herbalism Guild continues to build organically. Throughout this episode,  Laura provides bits of wisdom, like that "nature can pretty much take care of itself," referring to both business and the outdoors. Suz + Care learn that they might be too type A for a plant or that Caroline is smothering them. And, did you know - onions can cure an earache? Now you do.

You don't want to miss the tale of the escaped cavalier and Caroline's first ENGAGED LEGAL announcement. Plus, we debunk systems, translate organic experiences into digital spaces, and discuss project management tools.
